Cultura política positivista e educação no Rio Grande do Sul/Brasil (1889/1930)
Resumo
O trabalho que apresentamos pretende destacar a influência dos princípios positivistas como base de uma cultura política e educacional que marcou a história da educação no Rio Grande do Sul, na Primeira República. Para tanto, escolhemos alguns aspectos que caracterizaram a escola pública rio-grandense, como instituição integrante de uma organização montada a partir da orientação da política educacional definida pelos líderes positivistas. Esses aspectos evidenciam a relevância da cultura política positivista para o entendimento da educação rio-grandense. O estudo é historiográfico, realizado com fontes primárias, trabalhadas a partir de uma leitura hermenêutica e de uma metodologia de caráter dialético.

AbstractThis study aims at analyzing the influence of positivist principles on the education in Rio Grande do Sul during the First Republic, when they were the basis for the political and educational culture. In order to carry out the study, I have chosen some of the aspects that characterized public schools in Rio Grande do Sul as institutions which were part of an organization based on educational policies designed by positivist leaders. Those aspects highlight the relevance of the positivist political culture to understand education in Rio Grande do Sul. This historiographical study relies on primary sources which have undergone hermeneutical reading and a dialectical methodology.
