A adoção do nome, Paralelo 31, refere-se não somente às associações a seu significado geográfico e à localização da cidade de Pelotas, RS. O nome foi tomado de empréstimo do projeto “reverberações da arte contemporânea”, uma série de exposições realizada em Pelotas, de 2009 a 2012. Com este projeto, Adriane Hernandez, artista e professora do PPGAV da UFPEL, juntamente com outros dois artistas elege Paralelo 31 como conceito operatório para realizar a curadoria de uma série de exposições coletivas e simultâneas, em espaços alternativos da cidade, inaugurando um circuito paralelo para circulação da arte contemporânea. A partir daquele momento, pode-se afirmar que, ao nome Paralelo 31, são acrescidos novos sentidos relacionados à cartografia da arte contemporânea da região. A Revista, teve seus primeiros números sob a responsabilidade editorial da Profª. Drª. Lúcia Bergamaschi Weymar, na sequência a Profª.Drª. Renata Azevedo Requião e atualmente trabalhamos como equipe editoral compartilhada com a composição das Profªs. Drªs. Alice Jean Monsell, Eduarda Gonçalves, Eleonora Campos da Motta Santos, Helene Gomes Sacco, responsáveis também pela migração da mesma para o Portal de Pediódicos da UFPEL (plataforma SEER). A partir de 2017, as edições da revista Paralelo 31 passam a ser regidas pelas normas de submissão do sistema SEER. Em 2018 contamos com a colaboração na equipe de editoração a pesquisadora PNDP Dra. Gabriela Motta e a Profa. Dra. Rosangela Fachel de Medeiras que atualmente é professora visitante do Curso de Mestrado em Artes Visuais da UFPel.

The adoption of the name, Parallel 31, refers not only to the associations of its geographical significance and to the location of the city of Pelotas, RS. The name was borrowed from the project "Reverberations of contemporary art", a series of exhibitions held in Pelotas, from 2009 to 2012. With this project, Adriane Hernandez, artist and teacher of PPGAV of UFPEL, along with two other artists chose the words Paralelo 31 as an operative concept to curate simultaneous exhibitions, in alternative spaces of the city, inaugurating a parallel circuit for the circulation of contemporary art. From that moment, we can affirm that the name Parallel 31 accumulated new senses related to the cartography of the contemporary art in the region. The journal had its first issues under the editor Profª. Drª. Lúcia Bergamaschi Weymar, and after that Profª.Drª. Renata Azevedo Requião. After 2016, we have worked as an editorial team with Professores Alice Jean Monsell, Eduarda Gonçalves, Eleonora Campos da Motta Santos, and Helene Gomes Sacco, also responsible for the migration of the same to the UFPEL Pedagogical Portal (SEER platform). From 2017, the editions of the magazine Paralelo 31 will be governed by the rules of submission using the SEER/OJS Open Journal system. In 2018 we counted on the collaboration in the editorial team of PNDP researcher Dr. Gabriela Motta and Profa. Dr. Rosangela Fachel de Medeiras who is currently a visiting professor of the Master's Degree in Visual Arts at UFPel.
