ABSTRACT:

This short article aims to discuss aspects of the relationship between History and Archeology through some specific examples of the contribution of material culture studies and their component parts and methodological approaches for the production of historical knowledge. These examples are related to the History of Ancient Greece and aim to discuss and present the contributions of Classical Archaeology and, in particular, of Funerary Archaeology as a key discipline to understand ancient societies, enabling us to question and to deconstruct certain “historical facts”.
