Um olhar sobre a gestão da segurança pública através do processo de socialização profissional do futuro policial no Rio de Janeiro (Brasil) e em Toronto (Canadá).
Resumo
Este trabalho tem como objetivo principal analisar o incremento de mobilidade cultural propiciada por intermédio da socialização profissional de um grupo ocupacional específico – a polícia – com vistas a dotar o trabalho policial de maior profissionalismo para a realização das atividades relacionadas à manutenção da ordem e da segurança públicas, em duas diferentes cidades – Rio de Janeiro e Toronto. Para a consecução do objetivo proposto, foi realizada pesquisa bibliográfica e de campo. A pesquisa bibliográfica consistiu no exame da literatura nacional e internacional, em particular de língua inglesa sobre cidade, polícia, socialização profissional, mobilidade cultural e democracia. A pesquisa de campo foi realizada nas academias das polícias, civil e militar, do estado do Rio de Janeiro, como também na academia de polícia de Toronto.
Abstract: This work has as main objective to analyze the increment of cultural mobility provided by professional socialization of a specific occupational group – the police – to endow the policeman/woman work with more professionalism for the accomplishment of the activities related to order maintenance and public safety, in two different cities – Rio de Janeiro and Toronto. For the attainment of the proposed objective, the investigation included bibliographical research and field-work. The bibliographical research consisted of the exam of the national and international literature, English language in particular, concerning the themes on city, police, professional socialization, cultural mobility and democracy. The field research was carried out in Rio de Janeiro’s civil and military police academies, as well as in Toronto’s police academy.
