Eu e o Outro: imagens refletidas.
Abstract: This article concentrates on studies about the view of culture and cultural representation that are developed by school and society. It investigates the supplementary relationship between identity and alterity/otherness, searching the way the Brazilian constructs his/her own representation of him/herself, the way he/she is represented by the foreigner, and the way the image of the foreigner is constructed and disseminated to the other. The cultural perspectives (Hall, 2000; Geertz, 2001) that permeate this process are studied, as an exercise for deconstructing representations (Derrida, 2001) that predominate in the cultural studies, aiming at a reinterpretation (Ricoeur, 1977) of this educational issue at schools and universities. This hermeneutic analysis bases on qualitative research, of ethnographic foundations, done by the author-researcher as part of her academic researches about critique and new literacies, that include the issues of multiculturality at the university. The main proposal focuses on reflecting about the epistemological matters which relevance has been evidenced in the new millenium (Morin, 2000).
