A DEFINIÇÃO TERMINOLÓGICA NA LEGENDAGEM DE SERIADOS
Resumo
RESUMO: A tradução para a legendagem de audiovisuais tem merecido um foco de atenção renovado na área da pesquisa em Tradução, dado o incremento de acesso de filmes pela internet. Ao ocupar o profissional e também o leigo, que traduz legendas por hobby e na condição de fã, a legendagem de séries televisivas norte-americanas tem gerado materiais interessantes para estudo, também no âmbito da Terminologia. Mesmo com o crescente número de séries que usam terminologias específicas como pano de fundo, como as que se ocupam de temas médicos ou jurídicos, ainda não há muitos estudos sobre essa terminologia em tradução. Por outro lado, as séries de ficção fantástica, como as que tratam de mundos vampirescos e de fadas ou de ficção científica, parecem trazer um vocabulário com elementos bastante semelhantes às terminologias “tradicionais”. Assim, comparam-se neste artigo termos e elementos definitórios nesses dois tipos de séries, com vistas ao desenho de uma pesquisa de mestrado.

ABSTRACT: Translation for the subtitling of audiovisual materials has been under a renewed focus of attention in the area of translation research, given the increased access to movies through the internet. By involving the professional translator and also the layman, who translates subtitles for hobby and as a fan, the subtitling of North-American television series has generated interesting materials for studies, also under Terminology. Even with the growing number of series that use specific terminology as background, such as those dealing with medical or legal issues, there are still not many studies on this terminology in translation. On the other hand, the series of fantasy fiction, such as those dealing with vampire and fairy worlds or science fiction, seem to bring a vocabulary with elements quite similar to “traditional” terminologies. Thus, in this article, terms and defining elements are compared in these two types of series, aimed at designing a Master research.
