Registration and login are required to submit items online and to check the status of current submissions.

 

Author Guidelines

CAST is an international journal that publishes in English only.

 

All manuscripts must have full names of all authors, their affiliations and full contact information of the corresponding author.

 

Opinion articles must contain: no more than 5,000 words; title; abstract (max. 250 words); keywords (3 to 5); main text which may or may not have subdivisions; tables and figures are optional (max. 5); and references (max. 40).

 

Review articles must contain: no more than 8,000 words; title; abstract (max. 250 words); keywords (3 to 5); introduction; main text with subdivisions; concluding remarks; tables and figures are optional (max. 5); and references (between 50 and 150).

 

Technical notes must contain: no more than 1500 words; title; abstract (max. 250 words); keywords (3 to 5);  introduction; materials and methods; results and discussion; tables and figures are optional (max. 3); and references (max. 20).

 

Research articles must contain: title; abstract (max. 250 words); keywords (3 to 5); introduction; materials and methods; results; discussion; tables and figures are optional; conclusions; and references (max. 40).

  

All pages and lines must be numbered continuously starting on the first page.

 

Page format: letter; margins 2 cm (superior); 1,8 cm (inferior); 1,5 cm (left and right), font Calibri; font size 12, double-spaced, justified. Tables and Figures must follow the text and be numbered with title and legend. 

Title does not exceed 100 characters and spaces. (Do not use both common and scientific names for organisms in the title.) Bold and typescript is 14 point.

Author name(s) listed under the title.Typescript is 12 point. Affiliations and addresses date are given in separate paragraphs beneath the author’s name. Typescript is 10 point.Corresponding author’s name and e-mail address are given before the abstract.

The terms: abstract, introduction, material and methods, results, discussion, acknowledgments and references are given in uppercase, bold and typescript is 12 point. Subheadings are given in lowercase, except the first word of each subheading that is uppercase, bold and typescript is 12 point

Abstract on a separate numbered page following authors’ affiliation. No exceed 250 words

Keywords are given after the abstract in lowercase and typescript is 12 point.

SI should be used for abbreviation and units, such as mg, g, m, mm, L, mL, µL, h, min, s, mol, kg/ha.

Acknowledgments are at the end of the text.

References are in alphabetic order by authors’ surnames and formatted according to author guidelines.

Tables on numbered pages after Literature Cited section and in text format. The word Table and its number should be in bold.Each figure and caption on a separate numbered page following the tables. The word Figure and its number should be in bold. Digital images have been checked for adequate resolution (at least 300 dpi).

In the figures the first letter of the first word of each label is capitalized; all others are lowercase, except proper nouns. Panel designations should be identified by uppercase letters (eg., A, B, C, etc).

Figures and tables are clear and self-explanatory apart from the text. 

 

Citations within the text should as follows: ...Cunha (2011) observed...; ...Zonta and Silveira (1986)...; Grützmacher et al. (1999)...; ...(Oliveira, 1997).

 

Reference formatting: include up to 6 authors then use et al.

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  2. The submission file must be in PDF document file format.
  3. The text is double-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed at the end of document.
  4. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  5. Significance and originality of work are shown. Objectives are clearly stated in the introduction. Introduction includes a succinct evaluation of the topic, including all relevant literature citations. Experimental design and methodology are clearly and fully explained. Proper and sufficient statistical analyses have been conducted (when applied). Discussion relates work to other published material/articles and addresses strengths and weaknesses of research. Major conclusions are supported by results from repeated experiments. 

     

     

 

Author Fees

This journal charges the following author fees.

: 60.00 (BRL)
The submission fee must be paid by deposit: Banco do Brasil, Ag. 4468-7, Account # 14202-6 (FDMS). The deposit slip must be attached to the submission within supplementary material.

Publication Fee: 140.00 (BRL)
